The Economist weekly EU issue App Reviews

When I pay over $100 a year to access content, I expect it to be ad free. Even more, I expect my unmet expectations to at least default to ads that are not bothersome like those ads at the very beginning of an issue or those unwanted clicks. I am ok with ads for the paper edition because paper costs money. More paper, more money. I am not ok with paying as much as I would for paper (justified because good journalists cost money) but there is no valid reason to bother me with ads when I already pay the journalists with my subscription. Digital distribution costs around 0 per person when paper costs probably over half the price of the issue. Ads on digital is pure greed.

With the audio and sleek use!

Hello, the app is great, the content too , but could you add sort of a highlighter into the app ? I would like to highlight some phrases in my favorite articles. It could be done relatively easy I think, just into the past and copy menu ! That would be so great!!! Because thats one of the only negative points of the digital edition in my opinion. The current update stop playing the audio when closing the app or closing the phone. This is very annoying for someone likes me that listen the audio while commuting to work. I updated it yesterday today I cannot listen to properly. Please fix it

This app is usefull. But be careful, if you pay your subscription with itunes you will be paperless... For the same price ! If you pay directly to the Economist, you get the paper edition for no extra cost...

Unparalleled.

This is an excellent app. The interface is easy to use and very clearly presented. The dynamics are fluid and the design beautiful. However, it is a pity there are so many ads in a magazine like that.

Great app (indeed, a benchmark for all magazine apps), great magazine. Just a word of caution for the iOS9 beta testers: the iPad version has some issues with iOS9--which will, of course, be resolved when iOS9 final is ready.

The Economists iPhone app is very well made and is a good companion to the print issue. The only suggestion I would have is to integrate a table view of the issues, so that browsing, deleting and scrolling back is easier.

By far the best news app and magazine available for iOS. I tried several, and the great care with all elements of design in the app certainly contribute to the best possible user experience. The content is already known for its mindful insights and outstanding journalism. Therefore, I think the weekly issues have a very reasonable price.

The app works fine, content is, as always, informed and objective. I will continue my subscription as long as it remains so.

Love the audio version!

An essential element for serious indepth analysis.

You can listen to any article from the current addition while doing something else. That alone means you get more value out of your subscription. The app itself is well designed, a great UX gives you anything you need to focus on the content. There is something though that could be better: Economist Articles often are of great value for small details, meaningful figures, and the like that you want to keep in mind. What about a full text search then? Or at least, if bookmarks could be placed at specific text locations or you could highlight text, you would easily get back to things you want to remember. Still a great app. I use it every day.

No one compares to The Economist when it comes to researching, analysing, and explaining out world. And this is a fine app to accommodate that content.

All in all its an easy to handle App, which doesnt bother the user with adverts. The editors picks are a recommended reading - free of charge.
