Reading the economist is so interesting, very international. We really get all the information we need. Congratulation to the journalists.
The economist in your pocket!
Easy reading. However, always displays a message saying "blocked network connection" which prevents from downloading new articles. Would appreciate if this could be fixed
This app is truly the worst I have bothered to keep. If it wasnt for the expensive subscription, I wouldnt bother. The printed version doesnt interest me- I want the audio. But some weeks I cant get it to download at all. It doesnt stop midway through an article. It doesnt always even remember which article it was on. The only positive thing is the speed up option.. To be avoided if you have any other option. Sadly...
The basic product is as good but this new version brings new problems. The navigation in the audio edition doesnt remember where you left off if you stop audio and leave the app and the battery usage is out of control. A hot iPhone with 10% less battery after 10 minutes is not acceptable!
Best newspaper app ever tried, but I cant select word anymore to look up on the dictionary...
The old version of this app was very bug - audio playback would mysteriously stop and the app would freeze, but in this latest release it crashes instantly both on my iPhone 5s and new iPad Air 2... must be something not tested in iOS8 - not happy that I havent been able to read my paid subscription for over 2 weeks now!
Generally good, but there is one very annoying feature, namely that when I move up (ie back) just a little when reading an article, two menus appear, top and bottom, obscuring a good part of the screen. Surely there is another way to pull up these menus on the (rare) occasions when I want them.
Ive used this app everyday for the last 5 years or so. One bug hasnt been fixed in years: when the app starts while the phone is a low-connectivity area (for example with only GRPS or EDGE available), the app just hangs there, waiting for something. Sometimes it starts after 30 seconds or so, sometimes it just crashes. With the current version, simply switching into Airplane mode enable the app to start. Once started, I can disable Airplane mode and the app works just fine. Ive faced this issue with 3 different iPhones and every version of iOS. Currently, this behavior is every consistent: it happens in every case. Another issue Im regularly faced with: how the hell did the developer forgot to include a "Check for new issue" button? Sometimes a new issue appears automatically, but in many cases I have to restart the app to get it to perform this check. Clearly a case of form over function. In the end, great content, but Im not impressed by the app.
I now only use the electronic versions after having subscribed to the economist "paper" for more than 15 years.
The Best
The advertiding is very annoying. We pay a lot to have access to the economist. I dont inderstand why we have to put up with ads that are difficult to manipulate..sometimes I battle to access the review as the ads keep popping up
Best Eco app ever!
Best magazine you can buy
I really like the app. The thing is that it does not have a dictionary like kindle does and it would be way better
Morning starts with an espresso and The Economist Espresso
Really Nice app !
Well done!
Its easy to get used to this app and it is surprisingly easy to read on an iPhone despite the small screen.
